Quilts of 2022 and NEWS for 2023!

I’m a little later than usual for my annual ‘quilts of the year’ round-up post so this one will also include exciting news for 2023.

A restrained amount of quilts for me in 2022 which include 4 charity quilts and 3 quilts made for The Thread House Club BOMs (one of which was also a charity quilt).  The top row are orphan block charity quilts that I made at the beginning of the year. The Flower Pot Tumbler quilt was made for Today’s Quilter and both Watermelon Eyelashes and Intertwined were mainly made to use up my class samples.

However this strategy seems to have worked well for me with Intertwined winning a first prize at Festival of Quilts and Watermelon Eyelashes getting juried into QuiltCon (and will therefore be shown in Atlanta next month). More class sample quilts are planned for 2023, with two finished already but not blogged/photographed yet!

The first few weeks of this year have been spent working on a new class idea for our forthcoming Thread House Retreats.

I had a wonderful time playing with a sort of organic applique with embroidery which culminated in a number of stitched samples (below).

These have all gone together along with previous stitch samples, applique birds and half finished embroideries to produce this playful fabric scrap book.

This will be one of the classes we’ll be offering at our April and September Retreats in Yorkshire.

We have a brand new venue and format for our retreats this year with luxurious accommodation and an extra night away. Though a lot of the room options have sold out we do have some twin rooms left and even managed to reduce the price on these this week!

Head to our website to find out more about the workshops (including the other super cool subjects we are offering), general info and of course to purchase your ticket!

And we have other big Thread House news… we are launching a new online teaching school called The Thread House Academy!  This is something we’ve been planning for a while now and we’ll be launching it with a special FREE TASTER WEEKEND in February. This week we shared the ‘save the date’ badge and very soon I’ll be sharing more about both the six taster classes, how to sign up and all about The Academy itself and the workshops we’ve been planning. You can read a bit more about it on our website here.

I’m so excited about this venture and the way it makes me and my teaching accessible to folks all over the world! I really hope some of my dear blog readers will be able to join in!

In the meantime SAVE THE DATE … 11/12 February.

  1. What a great 2023 you had! I’m really looking forward to seeing Watermelon Eyelashes at QuiltCon. It looks intriguing. And I’m excited for you to begin a regular new teaching format. Online is certainly where many instructors are headed. Your “taster” event sounds like a good way to test what you’ll be doing, and get people interested in learning from you. Wishing you much success!
