Jo Avery – the Blog

Modern Quilts Unlimited

While I am waiting for my wrist to heal up and to share some new finished loveliness with you again, I thought I would show you this American magazine, Modern Quilts Unlimited.

Following on from our Scottish Modern Quilt Exhibition last August they asked me to write an article about the Modern Quilt Movement in Scotland.

I wasn’t really sure when it would be published, but a kind blogger, Terri of Threadtales, just got in contact to tell me she had read it. So I downloaded a digital copy and there it is, page 84!

I thought this might be of interest to any of my readers on the other side of the pond. Maybe some of your already get this magazine? It has some great quilt projects in by the likes of Elizabeth Dackson and Victoria Findlay Wolfe. And I adore that twirling trellis pattern on the front cover!

And I am happy to say that I have finally got my act together and started a Modern Quilt Guild for Edinburgh! We had a ‘pre’ first meeting last month and we are having an official first meeting on the 11th March, 6.30pm at my shop. If anyone is interested in attending then let me know. Even if you can’t come to this one I can put you on the mailing list for future meetings.
I will report back with more after the meeting (must remember to take my camera!)

  1. Jo it's a great article and I have the magazine by the side of me at the moment, I bought it last week, yet to read through but did see your article – good for you. Lovely magazine.

  2. Congratulations on your published article. The magazine seems great, I love modern quilting.
I fly to London next week, but unfortunately I will not stay for long. Next time I will be in UK maybe I try to come to Scotland! Best regards.
