Yo-Yo Trio

Issue 11 of Love Patchwork and Quilting is now on sale, so I can now show you the project I designed for it

It’s a trio of yo-yo pieces – a throw, a cushion and a framed picture. Jen, the editor (who we all got to hang out with at FQR!) had seen this cushion, and wanted something similar but in pastelly colours for summer.

I love the photos from the magazine.
I took some too, but now they look pretty rubbish in comparison!

I really had to make a LOT OF YO-YOS for this project. And yet somehow I still like making them!

This was one of the simplest designs I’ve made for LP&Q but as it was all hand sewn it was quite a lot of work.

These babies are all going to be on display on the Love Patchwork and Quilting stand at the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham next week, along with my Skittle Dolls and the three round Boho Dresden pillows from last month’s issue.

Here’s the back of the cushion. I used Dashwood Flurry in pink for the binding and my current favourite Kona colour Mint for the background. The throw has Maize for the background and the picture has Robin’s Egg, in case you’re wondering!

Are you going to FOQ? I am!! It’ll be my first time believe it or not! I really hope I bump in to some of you there. Stop me and say hello if you recognise me!!

  1. Sometimes simple projects are the best ones, and this collection is gorgeous! I love making yo-yo's too and I love the colours you've used. Have a great time at F of Q, I'm gutted I can't be there. I'm planning on going next year though!

  2. Oh wow, I love these. The colours really 'work' together. I could never see the point of yo-yo's before, and never liked any projects featuring them – but you have really cracked it with these designs.
