Stitch Gathering 2016 classes are announced today!
This year’s Stitch Gathering classes have just been announced! You can read descriptions of all the class here.
Let’s have a look at them in more detail!
We have some really interesting new teachers this year like Juliet Van der Heijden of Tartankiwi blog. Originally a Scot Juliet now lives in New Zealand but is coming home for a visit which luckily (for us!) coincides with the Stitch Gathering. Juliet will be teaching an introduction to designing your own foundation paper piecing.
Juliet will also be teaching a workshop for myBearpaw earlier in September!
I have been a fan of Carina Envoldsen-Harris’s amazing embroideries for a long time so I was delighted to hear she was planning a trip to Edinburgh to help promote her new book. This means not only is she teaching her embellished patchwork class at the Stitch Gathering but she will also be teaching a longer version of the same workshop at myBearpaw the day before the big event!
Jenny Haynes of Papper Sax Sten will be teaching a class on bias tape applique. This sample piece is absolutely stunning and as I have never tried this technique before I would love to do this class! Unfortunately I am teaching at the same time!
And this is what I will be teaching in the morning – a 3D Improv Dresden! I was going to teach my Biscornu with embroidery, but as we have another 3 classes that involve embroidery this year, and as it is primarily a quilting retreat I thought I would offer something more patchwork technique based.
I got a lot of very positive feedback from Retreaters about this piece on social media last week so I’m afraid biscornu is out and Improv Dresden is in (sorry Di, Suzanne and Sheila!).
The last morning class choice if from Julie of Forest Poppy. Julie has taught with us every year and her classes are always popular. Love these patchwork buckets – so pretty and useful!
