Quilting on the Radio AND the TV!

What an exciting week I am having! First up you can hear me talking to the adorable Pat Sloan on the American Patchwork and Quilting Radio Podcast!

I felt so honoured to be asked to chat to Pat on her show.  Through the Aurifil DOM and the Splendid Sampler 2 projects that we’ve been working on I have had a chance to get to know Pat a little through emails and she is just as warm friendly and lovely as she sounds on the radio!

It was also fun to be on the same show as my fellow Today’s Quilter (and Aurifil Great British Quilter thread box) designer, Carolyn Forster.  I have not yet met Carolyn IRL but this will definitely be happening in two days time at FOQ and our GBQ Aurifil box launch.

I chatted to Pat all about my life and my quilting story, I hope it’ll be an entertaining listen for you!

At the moment you can listen to the show through the Toginet Radio Station here, just click on the link for the show and it will download to your computer. Soon it will be also available through Pat’s blog and the American Patchwork and Quilting website. Or if you use an app for podcasts then search for it there (that’s what I did).

So that’s the Radio, what about the TV?

I will be back on the Sewing Quarter this week! I am going to be doing two shows on Thursday 9th August in the morning at 8am and 10am.

I will be part of their ‘ Sewing around the World in Nine Days’ theme which also includes some big global names such as Anna Maria Horner, Kaffe Fassett and our own Karen Lewis.  And guess who will be the other guest on the same day as me?!

Only Kaffe Fassett!!! How excited am I about this??!!  Very is the answer!  Of course I won’t see much of him as we are on the air at different times, but still… 😀

I will be teaching viewers how to make my pickledish quilt.  You may remember this from a few years ago when it was on the cover of Today’s Quilter, and then again for my Classic Quilter Bookazine last year. It’s always been a popular quilt and I was pleased they wanted to feature it.

This is the original quilt (which you can read about here) made from Jennifer Paganelli’s gorgeous Hotel Frederiksted fabric.

We chose another more recent Jennifer Paganelli fabric for the new version, Judith’s Fancy, which is rich and sumptuous and perfect for this design.  There will be two kits available in two different colourways, the one that I have used for this mini quilt and another one that I will use for my demo block.  This one will go out at 10am.  I had fun quilting this one, as it wasn’t too big I went to town a bit with the FMQ! I used a pink variegated Aurifil 50wt thread.

And at 8am I will be showing this charming teapot wall hanging.  It’s adapted from one of the blocks in my Vintage Home BOM from Today’s Quilter, and again there will be two different kits available.

As in the BOM we are using Tilda along with some Makower Spots. This should be fun to demo and I will be suggesting a few different ways to tackle those tricky handles!

I matchstick quilted this and added hand quilting to finish.  I never get tired of this lovely texture!

I do hope you will get a chance to watch me, the Sewing Quarter is on Freeview 73, Sky 687, or you can watch it live online at their website or later on YouTube.

Now I need to finish my class prep for Festival of Quilts as I am leaving tomorrow! I’ll be back with a FOQ report very soon 🙂
