Sewing Quarter appearance number 3

Well I survived Festival of Quilts!

I am taking a bit of a break this week to recover but I thought I would just pop in to share a link to my latest Sewing Quarter appearance which was on Sunday. You can watch me sewing both my Feathers quilt (below) and my Scandi Stitch Pillow (above) by clicking on this link.

I appear at around 1 hour and 20 minutes from the start and then again at just over 3 hours in. Though Susan Briscoe is on alternatively with me (talking about Kogin which I find fascinating) so you will probably want to watch the whole programme.

As usual I absolutely loved appearing on the show! It’s such fun, and if only I didn’t live so far from the studio I would be doing it all the time.

For the Feathers Quilt I made a smaller lap sized version out of the Tula Pink and Makower Linea fabric that made up the Sewing Quarter kit. This had 12 blocks instead of the usual 21 but it gives a good idea of how the kit quilt will look. The background is much whiter than this but the light was a bit odd on the day I took this photo!

I have been having some issues with the foot pedal on my Janome 9400 (foot pedal currently being seen to) and so I was sewing without one using the on/off button.

Because of this I didn’t want to risk free-motion quilting this piece and so I used the walking foot and a wavy design instead (never my best quilting result but needs must).

As SQ were going to be selling my Sherbert Dip Aurifil collection on the show I used ALL the colours from the box to quilt the wavy lines.

For the Scandi Stitch pillow I used all the 12wt cotton threads from my Passionflower collection and I just love how it turned out! They sold out of this box almost immediately and consequently we did on our website too. We’ll have more stock in once Italy get back from their August holiday.

Meanwhile I am getting back to my ‘holiday’ now, however I will be back with another exciting post tomorrow (as I can’t wait to share this next quilt with you!) and a FOQ report post soon after.
