SG Blend Fabrics Competition – Linky Party!

Welcome to the Stitch Gathering Blend Fabrics Competition Linky Party!

It seems very appropriate to be having a party on New Year’s Day – what a great way to start 2018!

Just a wee-reminder what this is all about:

After years of being a very generous sponsor of The Stitch Gathering, this year Blend Fabrics sent four pieces of Cori’s ‘The Makers’ fabric for each goody bag. And together we thought it would be fun to have a little competition using this fabric.

All you needed to do was make something amazing from your Cori Dantini fabric. You could use other fabric but the majority of the project must include fabric by Cori Dantini  (though these could be from her other collections). And even if you didn’t actually come to the Stitch Gathering you could still enter using Cori Dantini fabrics.

I have been enjoying watching lots of lovely projects pop up on IG and I can’t wait to see them all together here!

I have been making my own inspiration piece along with everyone to feel involved (because of course I can’t enter!).

I started off with some EPP using free paper templates from a recent issue of Love Patchwork and Quilting magazine. The Cori fabric is perfect for fussy cutting.

I appliqued the finished EPP on to Manchester Linen (in my favourite Pepper colour) and set about hand quilting. But then I started having problems with my hand. This wasn’t the only hand quilting I needed to do at this time, and as the other things were all for commissions with deadlines it was this project that got abandoned.

In the end I decided to finish the hand side with less quilting then I attended and to machine quilt the other side. Finished is better than perfect as Angela Walters says! And then of course I turned it into another Zippy Project Pouch.

I actually like the machine side better. I found a perfect Cori fabric for the lining too.

And so what have you made?? I can’t wait to see! The linky tool is below, just add the link to your blogpost or to your Instagram post. It should be very straight forward (though this is the first time I have tried this on my new Word Press blog so fingers crossed). If you have any problems or questions just email me below.

I will leave this open until Wednesday at midnight, so you have 3 days to add your link. Then Karen, Lynne and I will choose a winner and announce it at the weekend.

Good luck!
