New Patchwork & Quilting Basics – more info about my new book!

Earlier this year I announced that I had written a book for Stash Books which would be published in early 2020.

Well I can now tell you a little more about the book and share the cover!

New Patchwork & Quilting Basics is a beginner’s book for patchwork and quilting. Over the last 8 years I have taught hundreds of new quilters to use a rotary cutter, piece with an accurate quarter inch seam, baste, quilt, bind and all the other basic techniques you need to get started.  But I can only process 8 new recruits at a time and I realised that there must be a more efficient way to do this – write a book!

With my new book I can introduce potentially thousands of new members to our cult!

But this book is not just about getting started. I have found that a lot of basics books only include quick and easy projects and I don’t think you need a whole book full of these. My vision is to get new quilters started with simple projects and then move them along to try out a range of new techniques. There are so many different aspects to quilting and it is this variety that keeps us all hooked for life! Once they have tried a few different things there is a number of more intermediate projects where they can combine the skills that they have previously mastered.

With this wide variety of projects I do hope the book will appeal to all quilters, even those who have been stitching for years.

New Patchwork & Quilting Basics will be in stores (including mine!) next February/March. I really can’t wait to show you inside but for now you will have to make do with the cover!
