A Journey of Some Scraps

I’m not the sort of quilter who keeps every last little scrap, in fact I’m pretty brutal with the sizes of scraps I throw away (otherwise I would be drowning in them even more than I actually am!), but when I finished making this 3D Improv Dresden block the fabrics were so pretty and looked

Embellishing Patchwork

I felt very honoured to be asked to take over the Technical Feature in Love Patchwork and Quilting for this issue.  Sarah their Tech Editor is on maternity leave so they invited some ‘guests’ to fill the gap and asked me to do a feature on embellishing quilts, which or course is right up my

Sunshine Applique

We’ve had some funny old weather in the UK these past few weeks, even for us! Today it’s sunshine and showers all the way. So hears a nice ‘sunshine’ slogan and a fun project!  Last year I made a small wall hanging to go with this House Quilt for Love Patchwork and Quilting magazine. It

Text Embroidery and some more Matchstick Quilting

I’ve been busy launching our new myBearpaw prospectus over the last week. These are my workshops and evening courses from mid April till mid June. There are 5 new classes, four of them are for quilts and projects that I have made previously like this House Quilt and the Snowball Craft Bag. But I did

Scandi Stitches Hot Water Bottle Cover

Back in the summer I made this hot water bottle cover for Stitch magazine. This is the magazine produced by the Embroider’s Guild which is published every 2 months. My pattern is part of a Christmas Gift Supplement with 15 projects. I loved making the Scandi Stitch pillow for Love Patchwork and Quilting last year

We’ve just launched our Autumn Term prospectus at myBearpaw Craft Studio! I’ve been very busy over the last few weeks making some new class samples, and feeling quite festive despite it being July (not that you’d know it as we have had the most atrocious weather this summer in Scotland – it’s just starting raining

It’s been a very pouchy Christmas!

Pouchy for presents that is! I’ve come to the zippy pouch very late in the day, having let my colleague Naomi teach our class in this subject in the past. But armed with this excellent tutorial from Flossie Teacakes  I turned this hexy sample piece (that I made during my demos at the recent ICHF show)

Scandi Stitch Cushion

I’ve been working on a short series of ‘stitchy’ projects for Love Patchwork and Quilting magazine and the first one to appear in print is this Scandi style needlework cushion. It’s in issue 16 which should be out now and features Lynne’s fabulous Honeycomb Hexie quilt on the cover. The photo at the top is

Winged Blog Tour – Meadow Applique

Welcome to my stop on the Winged Blog Tour! I am so delighted to be taking part and sharing this Meadow Wall Hanging I made with Bonnie Christine’s beautiful fabric line. Once you’ve had a good read here you must check out some of the other posts on the tour – so much wonderful inspiration!

Dala Horse

Issue 15 of Love Patchwork and Quilting magazine hits the newstands today and I am so happy to be able to share this month’s project with you… …my Dala Horse! And look, he made the cover too!! This was one of my favourite projects for LP&Q that I’ve done so far. The nice thing about
