Christmas Reindeer Sew Along!

I’m delighted to announce a NEW Sew Along!

Last February I launched my Patchwork Pony pattern and hosted the Patchwork Pony Sustainable Sew Along. It was so much fun and afterwards I had a lot of requests for a repeat SAL. And then my good friend Ali suggested adding antlers to the pony and making him a reindeer! What a genius idea!! I will be forever grateful to Ali for this!

This was last spring and I earmarked September last year to launch this for a Christmas SAL. But life got in the way and I had to put the antler experimentation on hold.

But finally it’s here and the new antler pattern is coming next week! I have been working hard to get it right and I’m finally happy. The antler addendum is with my pattern elf getting polished and will be available next Wednesday 25th October when the SAL will officially launch.  I just thought that as soon as the antler pattern was available you would want to get straight on with it.

In fact some of you will want to start right now! You can start making the panels for your reindeer now as this part of the process is exactly the same as the pony (though you will need to wait until the addedndum for the reindeer’s ears!)

So with that in mind I have discounted the Patchwork Pony pattern with 25% off from now until Sunday 29th October!! Head to my website here to get your copy.

This does not have the antler addendum attached yet but this will be available FREE OF CHARGE as a download from my website on 25th October.  This means that if you already have a copy of the patchwork pony pattern you will have nothing more to pay to make a reindeer too!!

So far I have made two reindeers, a scrappy log cabin with christmas fabric and a very soft cuddly natural looking reindeer made with Shannon Fabrics ‘Luxe Cuddle’ fabric (if you want to enjoy watching this reindeer being stroked and petted head to my Instagram feed for a reel posted yesterday!). I’ll be talking more about how I made these in the first official SAL post next week.

I have already started making a third reindeer which I will have ready for next week’s antler pattern launch.

Want to take part in the SAL but don’t want to make a reindeer? That’s absolutely fine, why not make a pony OR a unicorn instead?! Maybe a Christmas pony or a Christmas unicorn?!

For those of you who want to get supplies ahead for your reindeer I am posting them here so you don’t need to wait for the pattern (all other requirements are with the pony pattern)…

Requirements:

8” x 12” brown wool felt for antlers

3” square of brown wool felt for outer ear

2” square of cream or white wool felt for inner ear

Toy filling

Brown embroidery thread such as Aurifil 12wt wool or cotton

Please do read the intro post to last years SAL which explains everything including what an SAL actually is for those new to this concept and how to join the Facebook group.

I then wrote a new SAL post every week with tons of tips, tricks and tutorials. They will be very useful for the reindeer SAL so do have a look here before you start:

SAL 1

SAL 2

SAL 3

SAL 4

Starting next Wednesday the first of 3 new SAL posts will be published here. And don’t forget you can purchase the original Patchwork Pony pattern at a 25% discount and get started on your panels right now by visiting my website here!

I’m very excited to start making ponies/unicorns/reindeers together and I really hope you can join us!
