Festival of Quilts 2017 Report

The Festival of Quilts is a four day event and the largest quilt show in Europe with thousands of quilts to see, and way too much to buy! Plus you get to catch up with all your quilty friends! Basically it is four days of bliss and excitement, where you feel completely ‘amongst your people’!

Hawaiian Applique Cushions

As I am sure you all know by now, I do love a bit of applique. So when Alice, the editor of Love Patchwork and Quilting, asked me to do my interpretation of Hawaiian Applique I jumped at the chance. And look it made the cover of issue 50! There are some fantastic projects in

Classic Quilting – my very own BOOKAZINE!!

The lovely people at Immediate Media have produced this one-off bookazine which is full of my previous projects from Love Patchwork and Quilting and Today’s Quilter! It is basically a ‘Greatest Hits of Jo’ collection!! How great is that?! It’s like my very own book but with no effort at all on my part! ?

Improv Jugs Quilt

I have a new quilt to share!  I have to admit that it is the end of March and I have not yet made a quilt this year! I don’t know what the hell I have been doing – I don’t seem to have stopped working – but it is not quilt making! But I

Flower Tile Cushion

Last week we had a little taste of Spring up here in Scotland with some mild weather. But alas, it was short lived and this week we’ve been plunged back into winter. However Spring can’t be far away, and here’s a lovely Spring-like project to get us in the mood! And look, it’s made the

Pickle Dish Quilt

Happy New Year everyone! Let’s start 2017 with a brand new quilt! This is yet another pickle dish quilt, this time a straight-up version of the traditional pattern, made completely in Jennifer Paganelli’s new line Hotel Frederiksted (for Free Spirit Fabrics). Yay! It made the cover of Today’s Quilter! I actually received my copy

The Quilter Magazine

At this year’s Festival of Quilts I re-joined the Quilter’s Guild. They help run the show and have a ‘recruitment’ stand there. I’d been planning to do it for a while having become re-connected with some of the Scottish groups through ‘trunk show’ visits over the last couple of years, and also through my work

Today’s Quilter BOM

When I was asked to design the new Today’s Quilter Block of the Month I’ll admit to being both proud and nervous, seeing as I was following on from my quilt hero Jen Kingwell! Jen’s BOM was absolutely stunning so I had my work cut out! I had asked the TQ editor (another Jen) whether

News News News!

I seem to have lots of news to share, so this post will be a bit of a round up! First of all myBearpaw, my Edinburgh store, has been nominated for the best Scottish independent shop category in the British Sewing Awards!! How exciting and surprising! Apparently the nominations were all made by readers, so
