Pineapple Mini Quilt – FREE PDF PATTERN!!

Gosh it’s been a while since I posted! Since then life has been busy and chaotic – some good and some bad stuff. I am slowly getting back on track with a little breathing space this week. I have lot’s to share from my trip to QuiltCon and will be putting together a report post very soon.

In the meantime I wanted to show you this little Pineapple Quilt I made to promote Sew Easy rulers.

If you don’t know these rulers then I thoroughly recommend them. Many different rulers come through my studio and I can definitely say that these are the best and easiest to use, especially the squares, due to their clear quarter inch markings that go, unbroken, all around the edge.

So when asked, I was happy to make a small project using the rulers. This Pineapple Log Cabin (or just Pineapple!) is a version of a block I have been teaching in my Modern Sampler Course for a few years now. I always use the Sew Easy 12 and a half inch square ruler to make it.

I love how dramatic this block can look if you use just a couple of fabrics. This mini quilt features some of my current favourite fabrics by Elizabeth Hartman, plus those sweet Heather Ross mermaids from Mendocino.

My project is also part of a series showing on Create and Craft TV and hosted by traditional quilting star Jennie Rayment (who I coincidentally met, very briefly at the Show I was exhibiting at in Glasgow last weekend – and she seemed as lovely IRL as she does on TV!). Jennie demonstrates the pattern while making her own version. You can also buy the rulers, and just about everything else in the studio!

I just watched the TV show as it is available online. Unfortunately it is only available for 7 days and as it was broadcast last Monday (this is first chance I have had to check it out!) you only have a few hours left to view it! If you are quick you can watch it here.

OR you can download the free pdf pattern!! This is available from the Create and Craft website here.

Enjoy!
P.S. Sew Easy rulers are available from all good quilt shops, including our Edinburgh store!

  1. I so enjoyed watching Jennie demonstrate your pineapple block and have the pattern downloaded and hope to have a go soon, tried to make a pineapple bock once before unsuccessfully but your method looks more managable.
