Stitch Gathering 2015 Report!

First off I am writing this from a hotel lobby in Stockholm which is pretty exotic I hope you’ll agree!
I didn’t get time to write this before I left but figured I would have a little downtime when I could fit it in. I am here for the weekend to teach at Rikstacket’s annual meeting (a smaller Swedish version of QuiltCon) which is exciting in itself but even more so as my teaching buddy is Krista Hennebury of Poppyprint blog (I’m not even going to attempt adding links from my phone!)!!

But what about the Stitch Gathering I hear you cry! Well I am going to take you through a virtual tour of the whole day using the photos Jonathan took.
The top image is just after registration when I do a little speech and take everyone through to the classrooms.
The photo above shows my morning class in progress, we were making Patchwork Portraits. Here’s one that was finished later by Gillian. She is so lovely and also made with vintage fabrics, thanks for sending me the photo Gillian!

This year’s ticket project was to embellish your fabric ticket with a word of your choice, being as creative as you like, and the results were truly amazing!

So many beautiful little works of art! 

And such great ideas!

Lunchtime gave us time to do our notion swap and also a fun Tombola!

The maths part of the Tombola proved a little harder than I thought it would be (I need to rethink that for next year!) but there was much excitement created.

We just managed to fit in some Show and Tell before the afternoon classes started. Here is Sheila’s stunning Arcadia Avenue quilt.

A really incredible Scandic quilt top made by Nicky and various Bees. Can’t wait to see this quilted!

Last year Karen brought this humongous Kaffe Fassett quilt top for the Show and Tell, this year it has returned, quilted and bound, and beautiful!

Lastly Karen’s daughter Lucy showed the gorgeous Dresden Plate quilt she had made with her mum. 

So lovely to see the next generation of quilters coming along!

Back to work for our afternoon classes now…

Hikaru’s Clamshell Purse and Macaroon Pouch classes were very popular and very well received, and she was ably assisted by Sarah and Ali.
