Stitch Gathering Workshops
Earlier this week we released this year’s Stitch Gathering Retreat workshops.
I think we’ve got a really good spread of projects, most of which can be finished during the class and with a good range of skill levels to suit all. But I’d love to know what you think!
First up are Fiona’s two workshops: Apple Core EPP above and Reverse Applique Hoop below. I’ve always wanted to try the apple core pattern and have yet to do any curved EPP. This will be a lovely, relaxing, hand sewing class making scraptastic and stunning patchwork.
I just adore these two hoops Fiona has produced as samples, especially the elephant. What a great way to show off some favourite fabrics, learn a really interesting technique and make a lovely framed picture!
I’m going to be teaching a workshop to make a patchwork doggie. It’s a very ‘old school’ project but I’ve always meant to make one and never got round to it. I’ve simplified the design and made this from a very cheaty EPP method (using glue!) and if you are a speedy hand sewer you should get it finished during the class. But I’m also going to show a machine sewn version too, plus offer different sizes, so you could make a really cute mini version – great as a key ring or pin cushion – or a giant version!
My morning class will be Free-hand New York Beauty. We’ll be drawing our spikes and curves on to foundation fabric (not paper) and trying to be as wonky as possible. I think this is a great way to practice foundation and curve piecing with the pressure off (as nothing’s meant to match up!) and produce a really funky looking block.
And if you do choose to take my class in the morning then you can turn your block into an amazing Tote Bag in the afternoon! Bag maker extraordinaire, Katy will be teaching you how to make this excellent bag which uses a patchwork block for a pocket (with piping!). And if you choose a different morning class you can bring along an orphan block to use instead.
Sheila has very kindly agreed to share with us the secrets of her incredible Mega Pinnie, the ‘all you’ll ever need’ sewing work station. I am so excited about this class and wish I could attend! This has got to be the ultimate useful workshop for quilters!
So 7 workshops in all to choose from. Retreaters will be able to choose 2 workshops, 1 for the morning and 1 for the afternoon. I’d love to know what you think of the workshops, have they tempted you to come along? Or delighted you if you already have a ticket? Is there something missing that you were hoping for?
The Stitch Gathering tickets are now available to buy here. You can read more about the workshops here.
These look just wonderful, deciding which classes to choose will be difficult for people. I would have loved to come to this. xx
OOo. I made a mega pinnie for a friend. She loved it so much, I might have to make one for me!
Wow the workshops sound fab! So many wonderful projects there!
Wow, they look like great classes, hope they go well!
I wish you weren't so far away! I'd love to come x
Ack! It's near impossible to choose cause every one of the classes will be teaching something really useful! Put a back on that apron and it would be an adorable wrap skirt!;)
More to you later dearie!!:) xoxo
btw….the apple core has a few bathing beauties in it…I wish I had their figures!!;p
The workshops look wonderful – have a fabulous day!
A great range of courses to choose from. Attendees shouldn't have trouble finding one (or more) they'd like. I would choose the reverse applique frames if I was nearer.
