2018 in quilts

It’s time for my annual look back at the quilts I made in 2018. Last year I managed to fill a 16 square mosaic with my 2017 quilts so it appears I’ve been slacking a bit this year! In reality I have actually been much more productive than this but alas I can not show

Double Dish Fish Quilt

Did you think I’d gone for good?! I didn’t mean to leave a whole two months between posts (the longest I’ve ever left in nearly a decade!) but I was working on a really big project that took all my time and energy (there’ll be more info on this in the New Year) and this

Finished Vintage Home Quilt Reveal!

Ta-dah!! It’s finished and revealed! I’m delighted to share my Vintage Home BOM quilt with you today. The latest issue of Today’s Quilter (number 41) is out today and as well as featuring yet another stunning Lynne Goldsworthy cover quilt, you will also find instructions for completing the Vintage Home quilt. I’ve kept the setting

Festival of Quilts 2018 Report

Yes… that IS me and Kaffe Fassett! This year my Festival of Quilts adventure began (at 8am!) with an appearance on the Sewing Quarter.  And if you read my last post you will already know that the other guest that day was none other than the legendary Kaffe Fassett – one of my biggest design

Social Bite Village Quilt Drive Update

I have six beautiful new donated quilts to share with you but first I wanted to talk about the opening of the Social Bite Village! The official launch happened over a month ago with a gathering of all the folks involved in the project plus lots of media and local dignitaries. I attended with Jonathan

Colour Box Quilt

I am delighted to share my Colour Box Quilt today! It’s a pattern in the latest issue (61) of Love Patchwork and Quilting magazine and I got a lovely surprise when it arrived this week to find that it had made the cover! Even more so because I thought it was destined for issue 62!

Pantone Quilt Challenge 2018 (and other minis)

This year’s Pantone of the Year colour is Ultra Violet and as usual the lovely Rebecca and Sarah have organised another Quilt Challenge! I entered this for the first time last year and had so much fun that I thought I would try again this year (and also I really like purple!). You can see

The Splendid Sampler 2!

Did you take part in the first Splendid Sampler project a couple of year’s back?  It was a fabulous success, so a sequel is on it’s way! This started off as an online Sew Along and ended up as a book published by Martingale. Pat Sloan and Jane Davidson are running things again but this

The Thread House Retreat Medallion Quilt

For this year’s Thread House Retreat we thought it would be fun to make a quilt using all the workshops and techniques we would be doing over the weekend and offer it as an exclusive pattern to all our Retreaters.   And here is the finished result – the Thread House Retreat Medallion Quilt! This year’s

Compass Spin Quilt

I’ve waited such a long time to share this quilt with you!  My Compass Spin quilt was finished last September, but due to the vagaries of magazine publishing it is only just being published today! It’s a simple version of a traditional compass block made from Denyse Schmidt’s Washington Depot collection by Free Spirit Fabrics.
