The Sweet Life Pillow
Here’s a little EPP project I’ve been working on for the last month and now it’s finished and off to a very special destination tomorrow!
The nice people at Blend Fabrics asked me to make something with Cori Dantini’s current line ‘The Sweet Life’ for their booth at Quilt Market!!
So my cushion will be going all the way to Houston!!
I am very proud 🙂
Blend (and Cori) had really liked this cushion I made with Cori’s first line ‘Beauty is You’ last year, and asked me to do something similar with her new collection.
So I started playing around with hexagons, squares, diamonds and triangles, and came up with a slightly different pattern to the Spring Carnival EPP pattern I had used on the last cushion (head over to Katy’s blog for a free download of that pattern!).
I think I’m going to call this new pattern ‘Hexy Puzzle’, what do you think? Unless it has a name already that is – does anybody recognise it? Have I re-invented the wheel?!
I have been recording the progress of this project on Instagram (my new obsession!), hence the odd looking photos as I am still playing around with all the different effects you can get!
I decided to make it a real monster of a cushion at 20″ so that I could show as much of the lovely fabric as possible. As in the first cushion I fussy cut the ladies (I just love Cori’s illustrations!) and this time there is also a little dog!
And then I hand quilted with different coloured perle number 8’s. I love this bit!
I finished the cushion today, going back to my original method of making a back, with loops to go round the buttons, which I hope will hold the whole thing together better (it’s got a big fat feather pad from The Feather Company inside just bursting to get out!).
I can’t tell you how chuffed I am that something I have made will be on display at Quilt Market. I have never been myself (though I do hope to make it one day!) but this is the next best thing.
So if any of my readers are lucky enough to be visiting later this month, please stop at the Blend Fabric booth and say hello to my cushion!
It's gorgeous Jo! I never got any of her first line and I need to get some of this line before it all sells out too!
You have showcased the fabric so well. It is a beautiful cushion. Congrats. Di x
Beautiful cushion.
This is so sweet Jo. I bought a FQ bundle of this fabric and am still undecided about what I shall do with it. The fabric really sings out on your cushion: I am sure it will have many admirers in USA.
Beautiful pillow! I love the piecing and the button closure.
Congrats! I'll be sure to visit it! 🙂
I think it is lovely. I also love the fabrics, they are so sweet.
and so you should be proud – it is amazing 🙂
Ooooh…I'll have to tell my boss and coworkers to go see it! They will be there for Market and Festival….lucky ducks!:)
Yes, you need to come to market…you do and I'll meet you there…promise!;)
Schön Arbeit,,Gefählt mir.Schöne Grüße.Alice.)
Fab cushion and I love the way you've fussy cut the ladies. I also love the back with the buttons- I'll give that a try I think if I ever make a cushion again!
Oh well done Jo, no wonder you are excited. I love what you have done with the pattern, it looks like a sort of enchanted maze, beautiful.
Congrats on your EPP quilt market cushion, such an honour. Maybe next year you can travel with your sewing to keep it company. It looks just lovely.
Lovely!
That's cute- there looks to be some nice blenders in that range…
Beautiful – I am sure you should be allowed to hand deliver though!
Another fab piece Jo 🙂
Love this, hope it has a good holiday in Houston!
Yo chica….when are you going to put this on flickr so I can FAV it cause I want to make it one day and that's where I file stuff!:)
