July Fresh Sewing Day
I am so pleased that I’m finally managing to link up with Lynne’s Fresh Sewing Day! After doing the first couple of months 2 years ago I’ve been constantly forgetting about it ever since – doh!
A couple of weeks back I took some time away from the shop to work on new class samples for the Autumn term (so technically I was working from home). I already posted about the Modern Sampler Quilt I am making (see quilt top in mosaic above), but this is another new class.
It’s a sewing machine cover but the idea of the class is to practice free-motion quilting. I have been asked a lot for a class on this, but I just couldn’t handle the idea of students spending all day practicing on sample quilts. And then I had the idea to do a sewing machine cover. It’s really just a mini quilt with ribbons attached, but still with plenty of space to practice without being too precious about it.
I added a row of flying geese as that’s something else I get asked for in a class, so I thought I would kill 2 birds (or should that be geese!) with one stone.
Last up is a new crochet class to do the ripple pattern. I have started another blanket (only my fourth unfinished one *blushes*) to try this out. It’s a lovely pattern as is this Baby Rooster Merino wool, which is gorgeously soft and fine but still machine washable. And available here.
So that’s my action packed June for you.
Stay tuned for The Sweet Life Project free pattern and tutorial later this week and don’t forget to visit all the other Fresh Sewing Day Posts!
A wonderful month! That name tag is gorgeous!
What a stunning mosaic! Great photos 🙂
The mosaic is all kinds of awesome. Makes me inspired.
There are so many beautiful things to look at in your mosaic! The sewing machine cover/FMQ/flying geese class sounds like a great idea!
Yay for June, and three cheers for July!
Yay for finishes !! !!
LOVE the ripple blanket – my one I started on the flight from Auckland to Singapore and then hooked my way around Europe last year is still unfinished
Can't wait to see you again at FQR Jo! Your name badge is amazing. Is there any chance you could bring me some fabric I've seen in the shop online to save me postage? 😉 xx
The FQR deadlines have rather tripped me up too! Glad we were both able to catch up though :o)
You certainly be proud of your embroidery stitches coz’ they really are stunning and pretty! Kudos to you for a job ver well done! I really admire knitters and stitchers coz’ they are so patient and passionate with their interests. Hope to see more of your collection! Have a nice day!
