The Great Tapestry of Scotland – our panel is finished!
I know I showed a nearly finished panel a few weeks back but I thought you would still like to see it completely finished.
Here it is, just finished and pinned up against the fabric bolts in my shop. Our group had a quick last viewing and meeting on Sunday when the panel was en-route to being handed in and I was on a lunch break from a crochet class.
Here are some close-ups of the ‘boxes’ that have been finished since our last viewing – Morag’s pussy willows and Eliz’s blaeberries, both beautifully stitched.
Here are 4 boxes all together, all really gorgeous – Nikhat did the beautiful yellow flowers at the top (I’m sorry but the name escapes me at the moment!), Joy did that really cute fly agaric toadstool, below that is the wonderful meadowsweet stitched by Elizabeth. And at the bottom are those amazing primulas by Katherine (my favourite I think)
These delicate, pretty violas are by Marg.
Marg also stitched our ‘tag’, this is our group identity. We are called the Edinburgh Tapestry Tenners as we are all from the EH10 postcode. This is the famous Morningside clock in the heart of EH10. Marg has reproduced this with immaculate detail even showing the blue clothed lady and unicorn at the top. The time is set to 10 ‘o clock (for EH10) and also represents all the time that has been spent stitching the panel.
As well as her box Katherine also finished the man’s leggings, the last bit on the main panel to do.
Above are Gill’s beautiful, delicate reindeer moss and Liz’s vibrant raspberries.
And here we all are (minus Joan L, Liz and Elizabeth) posing in front of our panel. Looking both proud and relieved!
So now all we have to do is wait till September to see the panel alongside the other 160!
This project has really been a labour of love, as well as a wonderfully rewarding group activity and something I will be so proud to have been part of for the rest of my life.
Such incredible work! All the details are so beautiful and you should all, quite rightly, be immensely proud 🙂
My god, its 4 times the size I thought it was!!! What a work, ladies, it is magnificent.

It is stunning and I have enjoyed your updates as you have been making it. I bet the entire project will be overwhelming when you see it all together, especially as you appreciate how long it has taken to stitch just your one panel.
Looks wonderful, well done to you for all your hard work.
That is just gorgeous – what an achievement. I am blown away by all that lovely stitching.
